Irrigation System Guide – ACT02 (Pump & VFD)

Pump-aware irrigation system guide focusing on pump protection, pressure stability, and VFD integration.

Irrigation System Guide – ACT02

Pump-Aware Irrigation Control (Package B / C)

ACT02 is designed only for irrigation systems with water pumps.
It focuses on pump control, protection, pressure stability, and VFD integration.

ACT01 helps you start irrigation.
ACT02 helps you protect and control water systems.

If your irrigation system includes a water pump, ACT02 is recommended.

Who Should Use ACT02

This guide is suitable if any of the following applies:

  • Your irrigation system uses a water pump
  • You want the pump to start and stop automatically with irrigation
  • You want to protect the pump from dry run or abnormal conditions
  • Water pressure is unstable or difficult to manage
  • You are using or planning to use a VFD (Variable Frequency Drive)
  • The system is designed for agriculture, orchards, or engineering projects

ACT02 is not designed for hobby gardens or valve-only systems.

Step 1 – Pump & System Reality

1. Pump Control Requirement

Do you need the controller to start/stop the pump automatically?

  • Yes, pump must start with irrigation zones
  • Pump is always running
  • Not sure

2. Pump Protection Requirement

Do you want to protect the pump from dry run, low pressure, or no flow?

  • Yes, pressure & flow feedback required
  • Basic protection only
  • No protection required

3. Pump Type

What type of pump is used in your system?

  • Submersible pump
  • Surface / centrifugal pump
  • Diesel pump
  • Solar pump
  • Not sure

4. Power System

How is the pump powered?

  • Grid power
  • Solar
  • Hybrid (solar + grid / diesel)

5. Variable Frequency Drive (VFD)

Is a Variable Frequency Drive required?

  • Already using VFD
  • Want to add VFD
  • No, fixed-speed pump

This question is the key divider between Package B and Package C.

Step 2 – System Scale & Concerns (Optional)

These questions help refine the recommendation.

Irrigation Method

  • Drip irrigation
  • Sprinkler irrigation
  • Mixed system

System Scale

  • Small (few zones)
  • Medium
  • Large / multi-zone rotation

Main Concerns (multiple selection possible)

  • Pump damage
  • Pressure instability
  • High energy consumption
  • Manual operation is too complex

Recommendation Logic (ACT02 Output)

ACT02 provides only one of the following two results.

Package B – Pump + Valve Control (Core)

  • Automatic pump start/stop is required
  • VFD is not mandatory
  • Basic pressure or flow protection is sufficient

Description

Package B links irrigation zones with automatic pump operation.
The pump starts and stops together with irrigation zones, with basic pressure and flow monitoring to protect against dry run or abnormal conditions.

This package is suitable for farms and irrigation systems that require reliable automation without complex variable-speed control.

Key Characteristics

  • Automatic pump and valve linkage
  • Basic pump protection
  • Cost-effective and field-proven
  • Suitable for drip and sprinkler systems

Package C – Pump + VFD + Feedback (Advanced)

  • VFD is required or already installed
  • Solar or hybrid power system is used
  • Medium to large system scale
  • Pressure stability and energy efficiency are critical

Description

Package C integrates pressure and flow sensors with VFD control, enabling soft start, energy saving, and full pump protection under variable operating conditions.

This configuration is designed for professional agricultural and engineering-grade irrigation projects.

Key Characteristics

  • Pressure-aware irrigation control
  • VFD-ready integration
  • Soft start and reduced mechanical stress
  • Energy-efficient operation
  • Engineering-grade reliability

What ACT02 Does Not Provide

  • No pricing information
  • No fixed bill of materials (BOM)
  • No construction drawings
  • No replacement for engineering confirmation

ACT02 is an engineering decision entry point, not a final design.

Next Step After ACT02

After identifying Package B or Package C, the next step is:

  • Engineering review via WhatsApp or email
  • Confirmation of pump parameters, pipe size, and system layout
  • Final configuration and quotation

Summary

  • ACT02 is mandatory for pump-based irrigation systems
  • It focuses on pump protection, pressure stability, and VFD integration
  • Only Package B or Package C is recommended
  • It clearly separates engineering systems from hobby-level irrigation

If your system includes a water pump, ACT02 is the correct starting point.
